Attachments and evidence

Attaching the source behind a number so the report can be reviewed.

An attachment is a file tied to one data point in one report: the spreadsheet a figure was calculated in, the invoice behind a volume, the policy a statement refers to.

Adding an attachment

Open a data point, then the Attachments panel from the toolbar. Drop files onto the upload area, or click it to pick them. Each file uploads on its own, so a failure on one does not lose the others.

The upload area only appears when the report is Active and you have write access. On a finalised or archived report the list is still visible, but read-only, which is the point: the evidence stays attached to the report as it was signed off.

What to attach

Attach the thing a reviewer would ask for. In practice:

  • the calculation, not just the result,
  • the source document where the number came from,
  • the approval or policy behind a qualitative statement.

Attachments and AI

Attachments can be indexed so the AI assistant can search them when drafting answers. This is not automatic. See Files, where attachments across your reports are listed together and can be indexed individually.

Exporting with attachments

The Excel export has a variant that bundles attachments into a ZIP alongside the data, so a complete package can be handed to an auditor in one go. See Import and export.
